Digital X-rays have quickly become the standard of dental care. While most dentists use only X-rays to detect cavities, at Calabasas Dental Spa, we also use an infrared digital camera to check the status of the developmental grooves of the teeth and special software to check for cavities between the teeth. Early detection of cavities means using minimally invasive, biomimetic restorations and saving most of your healthy teeth.
Our digital X-ray system helps provide us with clear, detailed images of your teeth and jawbone immediately following an exam. This allows us to detect problems that may not be visible during a regular visual examination. With this advanced imaging technology, we can get an accurate picture of what’s going on in our mouth – even for cavities or other issues that are hard to spot.
Digital X-rays are also beneficial for monitoring bone health, checking for impacted teeth, monitoring jaw growth and development, and detecting potential problems of the teeth, jaws, and temporomandibular joints (TMJ). We can also discover cyst abscesses, developmental abnormalities, and tumors that cannot be detected with visual examinations alone.

Computed Tomography (CBCT) and stereophotography are two of the latest imaging modalities available for three-dimensional (3-D) view of your entire mouth, jaw, nasal, and throat areas. A CBCT creates fantastic 3D images that show bone, airway, and soft tissue in these areas and any dental. CBCT scans use much less than the CT scans you are used to, and they are very safe while providing many benefits, like more views and angles of three-dimensional images to evaluate more complex structures.
