Having a crown placed used to be a long procedure requiring several visits. Because crowns need to be prepped, impressions must be taken, and the crowns must be fabricated in a laboratory, you generally had to wait one or two weeks between first first procedure and the final crown placement. In the meantime, you, the patient, were left to endure the discomfort of being without a crown. Fortunately, at Calabasas Dental Spa, patients can have their smiles restored comprehensively and ultra-efficiently thanks to our CEREC one-visit crown service.

CEREC is an advanced dental technology that is utilized for the restoration of decayed, cracked, or chipped teeth. CEREC can create full crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers. The CEREC machine crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes. CEREC restorations are made of compressed porcelain which makes them much stronger than laboratory restorations which are layered porcelain. The most beneficial feature of receiving a CEREC restoration is that it only takes one visit. In addition to the benefit of a one visit restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression material to bite on or an ill fitting temporary to wear while you wait for the permanent crown.

The procedure for placement of a CEREC restoration is very simple. The first step is to remove all the decay from your tooth. We then shape your tooth in preparation to take a live video images. Once the images are captured, they will appear on a computer screen in 3D. We will then design the restoration right in front of you. Once the design is completed, the special milling 3D computer will mill the restoration. This step takes approximately 15 minutes. You can actually watch this process if you would like. When the restoration is finished milling, we place the restoration on your tooth. The entire process is completed in just one visit.
